Bruce A Hedstrom Obituary

Graduation Year Class of 1962
Date of Passing Oct 02, 2017
About Bruce A Hedstrom, 74, Wilton, died Oct 2, 2017, at his residence under the care of hospice. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Sunne Lutheran Church, rural Wilton, with the Rev. Paul Schauer officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sunne Lutheran Church followed by a public prayer service.
Bruce A Hedstrom was born Oct. 1, 1943, in Bismarck, to Bert and Lillian (Nord) Hedstrom. He was a great-grandson of Linda Slaughter, one of the original North Dakota pioneer women. Bruce attended school in Wilton and graduated from Wilton High School in 1962. He married Bonnie Lou Schell on Oct. 18, 1963, and together they raised two sons, Brad (born 1962) and Bernell (born 2969). As a young man, Bruce worked for his dad driving truck for Hedstrom Trucking along with his brothers. He and his brother Dennis later bought the trucking company from his father. In 1980, Bruce and wife Bonnie formed their own company, B & B Trucking, which continues today. He continued driving truck until his retirement in 2014, but was still actively involved in the business until his death. The most important thing in Bruce's life was his family, his faith, and the trucking business. Bonnie was the love of his life and the two of them were rarely seen apart. He was so proud of his two sons and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. Bruce touched many lives and was known for his smile and willingness to help others. He was active in the Wilton community where he served on the City Commission and the Volunteer Ambulance Department for many years.
Bruce loved big trucks and classic cars. He loved driving his blue 1959 Ford hard-top retractable on warm summer nights with Bonnie and granddaughter Morgan, and they would all enjoy ice cream cones from Cenex. Bruce's last trip before his passing was to a truck show in Mandan in September. He was so happy looking at the trucks and visiting with many old friends.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Hedstrom, Wilton; two sons, Brad (Lisa) and Bernell (Caryn), both of Wilton; his grandchildren, Daniel, Carleigh, Chelsea, Joshua, Morgan and Mikey; one brother, Dennis (Nylarae), Garrison; two sisters, Shirley (Larry) Richter and Ellen Renner, both of Bismarck; and a special friend, Clint O'Dea, Iowa. He was also blessed to have many nieces and nephews who were a big part of his life.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Boyd and Alton; and two sisters, Lois Andrusak and Carol Driver.
His family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the hospice program for their compassion and help in keeping Bruce comfortable in his home during his final days in accordance with his wishes.
