About | Tom married Linda Powell at Immaculate Conception Church on April 19, 1969. He received his draft notice in May 1969 and reported to Fort Dix, NJ in September 1969. After completing basic training at Fort Dix, NJ, Tom trained as a medic at Fort Sam Houston, TX, before being sent to Vietnam to serve with a combat unit. Upon his Army discharge in 1971, Tom returned to Printing Service Company and became a journeyman binder. Tom's only child, a daughter named Lori, was born on January 2, 1974. Tom was a kind and loving father to Lori, and a proud grandpa of his two granddaughters. Staying active was important to Tom, and he played softball in several industrial leagues in 1971. As a teen, he loved to play pool at the Eastown shopping center, and he never lost his enthusiasm nor skills for this pastime. An avid bowler, Tom bowled a perfect 300 game at Woodman Lanes in a summer league in 1974 and was recognized with a "300" ring and trophy at that year's Greater Dayton USBC awards banquet. Tom was happy to earn that ring and wore it often. |
Events | Tom requested that his body be donated to the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University. As he wished, no public memorial service was held. |
