About | Boblyn Q. Patterson (nee Quail) 86 of Avon Lake, formerly of Avon, passed away, Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Bradley Bay Health Center, Bay Village, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Patterson was born, October 10, 1920 in Johnstown, PA and had lived in Avon from 1960 to 2005 before moving to Independence Village, Avon Lake. Mrs. Patterson worked as an English, Geography, Ohio History Teacher and School Librarian for the Sheffield Lake/Sheffield School system, teaching 7th and 8th grades, as well as, high school, where she taught from 1961 to 1988. She was a 1938 graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School. She earned her teaching degree from Indiana State Teachers College, Indiana, PA in 1942 and continued her education with Bowling Green State University and the University of Utah at the Firelands College Campus. Mrs. Patterson was a member of the Avon United Methodist Church. She was also a former member of the Lorain Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, the Beta Gamma Chapter and a member of the Ohio and Lorain County Ohio Retired Teacher Association. She was described as a loving and caring teacher. She also had a love for reading especially English Literature. She enjoyed watching the birds as they feed. Mrs. Patterson is survived by her daughter: Lynn Watkins (Greg) of North Ridgeville, 3 grandchildren: Bethany, Christie and Jeremy and 4 great grandchildren: Claudia, Christopher, Elena and Nicholas. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, William Edward Patterson, whom she married May 21, 1948. She is also preceded by a granddaughter: Any Lynn LaRue Hejnal and her parents: Henry George and LaRue (nee Baltzer) Quail. |
