Dr. Geoffrey Alan Haines aka “ Abner “ to his friends, age 70, from Chillicothe Ohio, passed away February 8, 2022 after complications from aortic valve open-heart surgery in Winter Park, Florida. Alan was born in Dayton Ohio 1951 and lived in Chillicothe Ohio with his parents Donald and June Haines. He graduated from CHS 1969 and studied athletic training at OSU for his BA 1974. He then graduated with his Master’s degree in Physical Education from Eastern New Mexico University in 1976. While teaching at Delta State University in Mississippi he worked on his Doctorate degree in Educational Leader ship and Research graduating in 2007. After receiving his PhD, he became an Associate professor at University of Trinidad and Tobago in the Islands, and taught until retiring from teaching. Alan was preceded in death by his parents Don and June Haines. He is survived by his daughter Heather (Haines ) Callahan and his son Christopher Haines both residing in Florida, along with his sister Debra Haines Starling. He also leaves behind a multitude of friends and prior students that will remember him as an inspiring, knowledgeable, caring mentor and professor with a passion for his teaching and students.
