About | Dale Eugene Reiber, 67, of Cheyenne died Sept. 23 at his home. Dale was born July 20, 1951, in Newcastle, Pa., to Donald and Juanita Reiber. Dale was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School before continuing on to complete a BA in education, MA in special education, MFA in American studies/Southwest cultures and Ph.D. ABD in anthropology. He taught special education and owned a bicycle and toy shop in Thatcher, Ariz., before moving to Cheyenne in 1982. He was a beloved teacher of special education, history and anthropology at Cheyenne’s East High and Cheyenne’s Central High from 1982 until his retirement in 2008. In the summers, he owned and operated My Favorite Painters and put his mark on many Cheyenne homes. Dale was an avid bicyclist and completed a solo coast-to-coast ride for charity in 1981. He was a collector of antiques, Southwestern art/rugs and stamps. His other hobbies included photography, bird-watching, music, travel and stock trading. As a teacher, Dale loved the ability to spend summers with his children and was very involved in their activities and sports as a coach and cheerleader. He is survived by his ex-wife, Sunny Reiber of Cheyenne; daughter, Bailey (Kit) Clunis of Denver; son, Jacob (Stacey) Reiber of Cheyenne; four grandchildren, Emalynn, Rylee and Everett Reiber and Kai Clunis; sister, Marlene (Pat) Read; niece, Jennifer Vest; and nephew, Chris Read. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial reception will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 13 at the Cheyenne Public Safety Center Community Room, 415 W. 18th St. in Cheyenne.
