About | DUNN Adelaide M. "Dancing Paintbrush" Adelaide M. Dunn, "Dancing Paintbrush," 88, of Genoa, Ohio, died Monday, January 15, 2007, in the Genoa Retirement Village. Adelaide was born November 1, 1918, in New Marshfield, Ohio, to Robert H. and Helen M. (Powell) Stright. On June 17, 1939, in Athens, Ohio, she married Claire C. "Iker" Dunn, and for many years they co-owned the Indian Mound Campground in Athens. He preceded her in death April 1, 1996. Adelaide taught art in the Genoa Area Schools for 28 years. She painted several murals in the area including the "Four Seasons" at Riverview Nursing Home in Oak Harbor, "Scenes of Toledo" in the Woodville Mall, and "In the Good Old Days" at the Genoa Care Center. She painted many, many portraits of different people in the area over the years. In July 1989, she became a registered member of the Continental Confederation of Adopted Indians (est. 1950) and was known as "Dancing Paintbrush." Adelaide also taught individual art in her home. She was a member of St. Paul Trinity United Methodist Church in Elmore, where she played the organ for many years and taught Sunday School. She was the founder of the 42 Culture Club of Genoa, was a past president of the Women's Federation of Social Club and a member of the Toledo Museum of Art. Adelaide is survived by her daughters, Lynda M. Dunn (Fred Dais) of Genoa, Loretta "Lori" M. Moore of Mansfield, Darla J. Spector of Mentor and Deanna C. Dunn of Genoa; seven grandchildren and eight great-grand-children; her foster son, Johnny Harold Dunn of California; brothers, Daniel H. Stright of Athens and Robert H. Stright of Amesville and sister, Elsie A. (Stright) Brooks of New Marshfield. Her parents and husband preceded her in death. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2007, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Genoa, with the family present 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2007, in Trinity United Methodist Church, Genoa, with interment to follow in Clay Township Cemetery. Contributions in Adelaide's memory may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, or New Marshfield United Methodist Church, New Marshfield, Ohio.
