About | Donald G. Haeft, 81, of Woodville, Ohio, died in his home Monday afternoon, October 4, 2010. Don was born May 16, 1929, at his family home in Genoa, Ohio, to Clarence and Bertha (Beck) Haeft. He worked as a boilermaker for Local Union #85 for 43 years retiring in June 1991. He was also a pinsetter at the Genoa Bowling Alley in 1947 after graduating from Genoa High School. Don was a cook in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Genoa American Legion Post #324. He loved to bowl, shoot pool and go to garage sales. He was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians. He had many friends around the area that he visited. Don was a true friend to all animals, domestic and wild, and fed them all the time. Don married Bonnie (Mauthe) Tillotson in Genoa in 1952 and then married Clara Pfannebecker in Fremont, Ohio, in 1988, and she preceded him in death in 1991. He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda (William) Vogelpohl of Curtice, son, Donnie (Kathy) Haeft of Martin, grandsons, Marc (Gail) Vogelpohl, Brody (Rebekah) Vogelpohl, Donnie Haeft, Jr. and Brian Haeft, four great grandchildren, one niece and four nephews. He is also survived by his brother, James (Phyllis) Haeft of Williston, sister-in-law, Genevieve “Jean” Haeft of Genoa and special companion, Rose Knott of Clay Center. Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Clara Haeft, and brothers, Robert and Lawrence Haeft. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2010, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010, in the funeral home with interment to follow in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. The family has suggested memorials for Don to any humane society or the donor’s choice. |
