About Eleanor M. Herrmann, age 76, of West Toledo, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. She was born October 14, 1928, in Genoa to Mr. and Mrs. Alex (Mary Thomas) Gargac. She graduated from Genoa High School. She married Robert E. Herrmann in 1952, who preceded her in death in 1986. Eleanor was a homemaker and a member of St. Catherine's Parish since 1952. At St. Catherine's she enjoyed being a den mother in the Cub Scouts and volunteered many hours at St. Catherine's School, while her children were in attendance. She was an active member of the Marion Society and also involved with the Greeter and Funeral Luncheon Ministries. Family and friends alike will miss her warm and cheerful presence.
Survived by her loving children, Cindy (Tim) Vetter of Toledo and Gary (Lynda Sternisha) Herrmann of Florida; grandchildren, Nicholas and Samantha Vetter; sister, Alice Jean (Jerry) Wojcik of Maumee and brothers, Ed Gargac of Perrysburg and Ray (Bernadine) Gargac of Genoa; brother-in-law, Willy (Shirley) Herrmann and many nieces and nephews. Preceded her in death were sisters, Irene Lynch and Mary Nikoncyk and brothers, Bob (Florence), Steve (Mary Lou), Alex (Marion), Ronnie, Elmer (Eileen) and Ernie (Justine) Gargac.
A Celebration of Eleanor's life will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Catherine's Sienna Center, with a prayer service and dinner, all are invited. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine's Church, Fr. Gary Walters, celebrant. Burial will follow at Clay Twp. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Eleanor's name may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or St. Catherine's Church. Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home (1163 W. Sylvania at Lockwood, 419-269-1111) is handling arrangements.
