About | Frieda Marie Clara (Dalling) Schnitker, 87, of Genoa, passed away early Monday morning, April 18, 2011, in the Genoa Retirement Village with her daughter at her side. Frieda was born August 19, 1923, in Clay Township, Ohio, to William and Rose (Heldt) Dalling, and lived in the same home all her life. She was a 1941 graduate of Genoa High School and a member of the 1940-41 Ottawa County champion girls track team. On August 17, 1957, in Genoa she married Marcus C. Schnitker, who preceded her in death September 9, 2004. Frieda enjoyed farming with her parents and then with her husband. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She retired from Genoa Area Local Schools as a playground and cafeteria monitor. She was also a poll worker for Clay Township for many years. Frieda was a lifelong member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Genoa. She and her daughter, Rose, traveled to 45 of the 50 United States, and they were devoted fans of the Genoa Comets, attending athletic events for many years. Frieda is survived by her daughter, Rose Marie Schnitker of Genoa, her sister, Bernadine Wagner of Genoa and sister-in-law, Eleanor Schnitker of Virginia Beach, Virginia, as well as several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband, "Mike," and sister, Loretta Maire, preceded her in death. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2011, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 21, 2011, in St. John's United Church of Christ, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, with additional visitation one hour prior from 10-11 a.m. Interment will take place in Clay Township Cemetery. Memorials for Frieda may be directed to the Allen-Clay Joint Fire Dist. #3, Genoa, St. John's United Church of Christ, or the Genoa Retirement Village. Rose wishes to thank Dr. B.
