Helen A. Sharpe, 98, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Saturday morning, August 26, 2006, at Riverview Senior Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. Helen was born in Genoa, Ohio, on February 27, 1908, the daughter of Nicholas and Gertrude (Ptak) Cashen. Helen was the oldest graduate of Genoa High School at the time of her death, graduating in 1926. She married Max G. Sharpe in the former Grace Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, on April 4, 1928. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1990. Helen was the bookkeeper and assisted her husband with the operation of the former M.G. Sharpe Tractor Sales of Oak Harbor from 1950-1975. From 1932 until 1950 she and her husband owned and operated the former Sharpe's Market in Oak Harbor. Helen was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor and a member of the former O.E.S. Chapter #131, now O.E.S. Chapter #133 of Fremont, Ohio for 78 years. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and during their years together they traveled all over the world. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max, and brothers, Robert, Donald, and Paul Cashen. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Blanche Cashen-Schimming of Genoa, Thelma Jean Vaillant of Safety Harbor, FL, and Anna Cashen of Genoa, along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Genoa, Ohio, followed by interment in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, August 28, 2006, in the funeral home, with O.E.S. Services to be conducted at 7:30 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions be in Helen's name to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio, the American heart Association, or the Donor's choice |
