About | A memorial service celebrating the life of Herbert A. Fouke, age 76, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, at First Presbyterian Church, 65 North Third Street, Newark, with Rev. John Minihan officiating. Private inurnment will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mr. Fouke died March 31, 2009 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born September 26, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio to the late William Claire and Elizabeth (Wood) Fouke. Mr. Fouke was a graduate of Genoa High School in Genoa, Ohio, and Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduating college, he was employed by the Holophane Lighting Company in Newark, moving to Edison, New Jersey, as manager of the Holophane Plastic Injection Molding Plant from 1967 until 1983. In 1983 he returned to the Newark Plant to their research and development department until he retired. Mr. Fouke held many patents in the design of industrial light fixtures and luminaires that control the angle and brightness of light distribution. He was a past president and Fellow recipient of the Illuminating Engineering Society. He was an active member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Newark and for many years he was a member of the Newark Junior Chamber of Commerce, JayCees. He is survived by his wife, Marcia Louise (Moore) Fouke; a daughter, Sara Fouke of Newark; sons, Robert Fouke of Newark and Richard A. Fouke and his wife, Terri Dunsworth Fouke of Gaithersburg, Maryland; two grandchildren, Kara and James Fouke of Gaithersburg, Maryland; and a brother, Richard C. Fouke of Williston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William Fouke. Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements. |
