About | Joanne C. Cashen, 73, of Genoa, died surrounded by her family Sunday morning, May 22, 2011, in H.B. Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, Ohio. Joanne was born September 15, 1937, in Curtice, Ohio, to Arthur and Agnes (Lentner) Diefenthaler and graduated in 1955 from Clay-Genoa High School. On May 1, 1982, in Elliston, Ohio, she married William Cashen and he survives. Joanne had worked as a waitress and a pharmacy clerk. Her many joys were doing crafts, cooking and flowers, but her biggest joy was her grandchildren. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elmore, Ohio, and the Elmore American Legion Post #279 Auxiliary. In addition to her husband, Bill, Joanne is survived by her children, Mike Kontak, Kathy (Terry) Gaines, Becky (Paul) Mancinotti, Mark (Jan) Kontak, Kay (David) Egert, Brenda (Mark) Ihde and Kelly (John) Meeker; step children, Cathy (Mike) Lang, Nancy (Steve) Sabin and Paul (Peggy) Cashen; 20 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren (two on the way); brother, Lowell (Jan) Diefenthaler and sisters, Jean (Ronnie) Weidner and Pat Cherry. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Bradley John Kontak, and step grandson, Nick Lang. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2011, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 26, 2011, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Elmore, with interment to follow in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. Memorials for Joanne may be directed to Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor, or the Elmore American Legion Post #279 Auxiliary. |
