John Charles Werner, aka "Putt-Putt", age 63, of Powell Ohio passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at University of Toledo Medical Center. John worked for AEP as an electrical engineer for 38 years. He was a member of IEEE, Republican Central Committee in Delaware County and presiding Judge of Liberty E in Liberty Township. John also served 16 years as a Liberty Township Trustee. John was a graduate of Genoa Area High School, Owens Tech, The Ohio State University, and Xavier University. He was an avid fan of Ohio State attending games for 40+ years and numerous bowl games. John was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores (Davis) Werner of Genoa and nephew, Curtis Werner of Phoenix, Arizona. John is survived by his wife, Sharon (Harpel) Werner of Powell; son, Matthew (Betsy) Werner Westerville; daughter, Lori (Matt) Alexander of Powell; four grandchildren, Bruce, William, and Thomas Alexander, and Claire Werner; father, John "Jack" Werner of Genoa; brother, William "Bill" Werner of Genoa, and a number of nieces and nephews and numerous friends in both central Ohio and Genoa, Ohio. Family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington, OH 43085, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2012. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa, Ohio. Immediately following the graveside service there will be a time of fellowship and light refreshments, served at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, OH.
