Marcia Jo Amstutz, 64, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Mercy St. Charles Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Marcia was born on May 3, 1948, the youngest of three daughters born to Walter and Elfreda (Barnes) Tank. Marcia graduated from Harris - Elmore High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Bowling Green State University in 1970. Following graduation, Marcia taught art with the Genoa Area School System. In December, 1964, Marcia met her future husband, Al, when he answered an ad to come to the United States to work as a sausage maker. A friendship grew and they married December 27, 1969. They were blessed with three children, Eric, Kurt, and Monica. In January, 1976 Marcia and Al took over the family business, Tank's Meats, which her grandfather started in 1907. While her husband Al won multiple state and national awards for his meat products, Marcia won many awards for her commercial and artistic class party trays. Working along side of her husband and their three children, the business grew and continues to grow under the leadership of sons, Eric and Kurt. With her German heritage an important part of her life, Marcia was active in serving as a trustee, secretary, and president of the German American Festival Society. She was also a member of the G.B.U. and Bavarian Sports Club. Marcia served as an officer in the Toledo United Swiss, Toledo Swiss Ladies Society, and the Swiss Singers. She held many stations in the Order of the Eastern Star serving Elmore as Worthy Matron in 1978 and was currently a member of the Perrysburg Eastern Star. Marcia enjoyed cooking, sewing, and was a 4H advisor for many years. Marcia and her family were longtime members of St. John's United Church of Christ, Elmore. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends, especially time spent in Switzerland with her husband's family. Marcia's true passion was spending time with her children and seven grandchildren. Marcia is survived by her husband of 43 years, Al; children, Eric (Jackie) Amstutz, Kurt (Julie) Amstutz, and Monica Amstutz; grandchildren, Ben, Michael, Jacob, Samantha, Brody, Max, and Xander; and sisters, Meribeth Zolner and Margaret Haught. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel 1111 Woodville Road, (east of I-280) on Friday, April 5, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., where the Swiss Singers will perform at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 6, 2013. at 2:00 p.m. in St. John's United Church of Christ, 448 Rice Street, Elmore, Ohio where the family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Harris - Elmore Union Cemetery.
