Meryle B. Durdel, 92, of Genoa, Ohio, and formerly of Elmore, Ohio, died Sunday, November 29, 2009 at the Genoa Retirement Village. She was born in Mendon, Ohio on February 19, 1917, a daughter of Basil & Glen (Archer) Price. Meryle was a graduate of Genoa High School, where she played on the girl's basketball team. She worked at the former Erie Ordinance Depot during World War II, and later worked at the former Genoa Savings & Loan for many years, retiring in 1985. A member of St. Paul-Trinity United Methodist Church, Elmore, Meryle was a long time member of the church choir, was active in the United Methodist Women, and taught Sunday School. She was also a sponsoring member of Delta Chi Chapter of Sigma Alpha Sorority. Meryle was an avid reader and bowler and enjoyed sewing and gardening. On August 7, 1948, she married Raymond Durdel, and he servives. Also surviving are sons, Rex (Sharon) Durdel, Twinsburg, OH and Ted (Debra) Durdel, Aurora, OH; daughter, Kathryn (Ed) Magsig, Elmore, OH; 5 granddaughters, 3 step-grandsons, and 5 step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. Paul-Trinity United Methodist Church, Elmore, where the family will receive friends in the Markley Parlor of the church after 10:00 A.M. Wednesday. Interment will be in Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
