About Milton W. Roecker, 82, of Genoa, Ohio, died Friday, August 31, 2007 in St. Charles Mercy Hospital Oregon, Ohio. Milton was born in Genoa on February 27, 1925 the son of John and Ida (Westerhouse) Roecker. He married Hilda Mae Anna Dorfmeyer on June 29, 1946 in Solomon Lutheran Church, Woodville, Ohio.Milton graduated from Genoa High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1943 to 1946 on the S.S. Grundy. He was a pipefitter by trade and was a member of Local 50, Plumbers & Pipefitters, Toledo, Ohio for 55 years. He was a lifetime member of Genoa American Legion Post #324, serving as it’s commander for 3 years. Milton was a member of Solomon Lutheran Church, where he had been a member of the church council and served on several committees. Milton also served on the Village of Genoa Council for 10 years during the 1970’s. Milton and Hilda loved to travel and were fortunate enough to travel around the entire United States.Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Hilda, sons, Edward J. (Karen) Roecker of Monroe, MI, Gary L. (Jill) Roecker of Battle Creek, MI, daughter, Cynthia A. Roecker of Genoa, grandsons, Kurt (Colleen) Andrew (Heather), Spencer (Kristi), Anthony & Christopher Roecker, great granddaughters Haley and Caroline Roecker. Survivors also include his brothers, Wilson (Jenny) Roecker of Genoa, Virgil (Betty) Roecker of Williston, OH, and Robert (Betty) Roecker of Genoa. Milton was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Velma Brown, Verna Stevens, Viola Wengert, and Vondale Hurdlebrink.Funeral services for Milton will be conducted at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, September 5, 2007 in Solomon Lutheran Church, Woodville, OH, with interment and full military honors to follow in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. Visitation will be conducted in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Genoa, OH, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Tuesday, September 4, 2007. The family suggests that memorials in Milton’s memory be directed to Solomon Lutheran School, American Legion Post #324, Genoa, or the donor’s choice.
