Richard T. "Dick" Peiffer, 83, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away June 22, 2011, at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg with his family at his side. He was born on February 26, 1928, in Genoa, Ohio, to William and Nellie Peiffer. After graduating from Genoa High School, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Dick worked as a Pipe fitter/Machinist at Sun Oil Refining for 38 years, retiring in 1989. He started the Sun Oil Retirees Golf Club and was a judge for the A.A.U. Swimming Events for many years. Dick was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be fondly remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling, was a member of the American Legion Post# 324, Knights of Columbus- Genoa Council #4237 and the Bay Point Yacht Club. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Joan; children: Marcy Luther, Lori Shaneck, Richard (Denise) Peiffer and Carrie (Terry) Sievert; grandchildren: Emily Dosch, Scott Shaneck, Pete Luther, Angela (Austin) Foley, Stephanie, Ricky III and Kayla Peiffer and Carly and Veyda Seivert; great-grandchildren, Aidan and Ava Dosch and brother, Donald (Beverly) Peiffer. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Russel, Herbert and Norbert and his sisters, Pauline and Bertha. Family and friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, on Friday, June 24, 2011, from 2 to 8 p.m. where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa at 11 a.m. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at Clay Twp. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Doctors without Borders or Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto |
