About | Robert L. Shiffert, 79, of Millbury, died Wednesday, September 7, 2005, in Orchard Villa, Oregon. Robert was born January 14, 1926, in Genoa to George and Catherine (Gill) Shiffert. He graduated from Genoa High School in 1944, and on March 18, 1950, he married Marilyn Rogers, and she survives. Robert worked at Standard Oil and as a pipe fitter for over 40 years at BP Oil Refinery retiring in 1986. He was a naval veteran of WWII and a life member of the VFW Post #7510. He had been a pack leader for the Millbury Cub Scouts Pack 160 and a little league baseball coach for years in Millbury. Robert "Birddog" was an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his wife, Marilyn, Robert is survived by his son, Kenneth L. (Pamela) Shiffert of Oregon and daughter, Karen L. (Kenneth) Ebert of Northwood; grandchildren, Amanda (Andrew) Edwards, Andrea (Greg) Falkowski, Christopher Ebert, Michael Shiffert, and Rebecca Shiffert, and sister, Jenny Short. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Iline, Lyle, Elrey, Donnel, Harold, and George. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2005, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Genoa. Interment will follow in Clay Township Cemetery with VFW and American Legion military services. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
