Thomas D. Haley, 82, of Gibsonburg, died on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Bethesda Care Center, Fremont. He was born on September 19, 1928, in Toledo to Andrew and Helen Margaret (Murphy) Haley. Thomas was a 1946 graduate of Genoa High School and served in the U. S. Army during peacetime. On June 16, 1956 he married Rita Dolweck in Gibsonburg. She survives. Tom was a self-employed Painting Contractor, retiring in 1998. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, was active in its choir for over 50 plus years, sang at many weddings and formerly served as its custodian. He was also a member of the Gibsonburg American Legion and was a 3rd & 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He enjoyed playing golf with family and friends and was a huge Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Cleveland Indians fan. Surviving are children, Susan (Richard) Kaemming of Gibsonburg, Michael (Diane) Haley of Virginia, Kathleen (Kent) Kirsch of Gibsonburg, Sharon (David) Miller of Perrysburg and Eileen (William) Whetsel of Fostoria; grandchildren, Nick (Lindy), Corey and Aisha Kaemming, Vincent Kirsch, Josh and Angie Miller, Trent and Brody Whetsel, T.J. Harte and Taylor and Nicholas Haley; and twin brother, James Haley of Oregon, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Rosemary, Helen Margaret and John. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 31, 2010, from 1-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg where a vigil service and a Knights of Columbus Chalice Dedication will be held that evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, November 1, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Rev. Ted Miller and Rev. Fred Schill officiating. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hospice of Memorial Hospital or to the Alzheimer's Unit at the Bethesda Care Center in Thomas' memory. |
