About | Clarence Lee "Jiggs" Porter, 83, of New Boston, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010. He was born Aug. 21, 1926, in Elliott County, Kentucky. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945. He retired as the custodial supervisor at New Boston Schools after 38 years of service. He served as a New Boston Councilman for over 20 years and cared for the New Boston United Methodist Church for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Kathryn Nelson Porter, whom he married on July 25, 1949. In addition to Kathryn, he is preceded by his parents, Clyde and Thelma Grizzle Porter; brothers, Jackie Porter, Jerry Porter, and Gerald (Norman) Porter; as well as his son-in-law, Randy Madden and sister-in-law Carolyn (Tiddle) Sturgill. He is survived by his children, Barry (Jan) Porter of Portsmouth, Pamela Madden of New Boston, Kenneth (Janice) Porter of Sciotodale, Phillip Porter of Columbus, Angela (Randy) Hamilton of Columbus, Veronica (Waled) Abdalla of Columbus, Christopher (Brandi) Porter of Wheelersburg, Katie (Mike) Butte of Worthington, and Timothy (Jessica) Porter of Wheelersburg; a granddaughter, Heather (Danny) Eggers of New Boston whom Kathryn and he raised and considered their daughter.
