| About | David E. Metzler, 72, of South Webster, formerly of New Boston, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Southern Ohio Medical Center He was born May 4, 1930 in Portsmouth, the son of the late Floyd Metzler and Edith Cooper Metzler. He was the owner of Metzler Ashland and Wrecking Service in New Boston, former Electrician at Empire Detroit Steel and an Army Veteran having served in the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Mildred Irene Sargent Metzler whom he married March 24, 1977, in Wise, W.Va; four daughters, Elaine Shump and husband Michael of Portsmouth, Debora Sexton of South Shore, Ky., Angela Henson and husband Wayne of New Boston, and Jennifer Sherrick and husband Glenn of Brunswick, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Barbara Krekeler of Jackson; one sister, Mary Ann Jordan of Portsmouth; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Brian Keith Steele. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at the D.W.Swick Funeral Home in South Webster, with the Rev. Michael Bradshaw officiating, with interment in Memorial Burial Park, with graveside military honors by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at t the D.W. Swick Funeral Home in South Webster |
