About | Edna Mae Turner, 79, of New Boston, died at her home Sunday, May 16, 2004, surrounded by her family. She was born Feb. 7, 1925, in New Boston, the eldest daughter of the late Jack and Edna Hatton. Mae is survived by her husband of 56 years, Elwood Turner, whom she married May 16, 1948, in New Boston; two daughters, Janet (Daniel) Fetty of New Boston and Linda (Benji) DeCamp of Wheelersburg; three sons, David (Linda) Turner of Twin Valley, Jim (Vickie) Turner of Wilton, Iowa, and Larry Turner of Columbia, S.C.; grandsons, Rodney (Carissa) Fetty, Chad (Cindy) Turner, Evan DeCamp and James Turner; granddaughters, Michele Nowlin, Rachel (Keenan) Perry, Leslie (Evan) Allison, Megan DeCamp, Jackie and Ashley Turner; and great-granddaughters, Jessica Nowlin, Hannah and Hollie Fetty, Madison Perry and Gracie Dawn Turner, Mae will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also is survived by one brother, Richard Hatton of Dayton, Ohio; three sisters, Ethel Clevenger of Minford, Dorothy Hatton of Portsmouth and Ruth Duncan of Lucasville; and a special friend to the family, Linda Sue Jennings. She will be sadly missed by all. She was a member of the New Boston First Church of the Nazarene. She served on the church board, was a choir member and taught the nursery Sunday school class for many years. She loved the Lord with all her heart. Mae also loved making quilts. This is evident by the many quilts in the homes of family and friends. The love of sewing carried over into the job where she was a seamstress in the drapery department for the former Marting's Department Store. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with the Rev. Richard North officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday noon to 1 pm.m at D.W. Swick in New Boston |
