John Anthony Lehman, age 59, of Charlotte, NC, transitioned into his next phase of life and was reunited with our parents on May 9, 2023. John had been courageously fighting a tough battle with Glioma since his diagnosis in November of 2022. He was born in Akron, Ohio on September 24, 1963 to George "Bo" and Marilyn Lehman, graduated from Green High School/Portage Lakes JVS in May 1982 and Ohio Diesel Technical Institute in 1983. A resident of Charlotte, NC for 40 years, he was an accomplished Heavy Equipment Technician and most recently retired from Charlotte Douglas International Airport due to his fight with brain cancer. In addition, he served several years as Assistant Chief at Cooks Community Volunteer Fire Department. John is preceded in death by our parents, "Bo" and Marilyn Lehman, many amazing Aunts and Uncles and special friend and cousin "cuz", "Slug", Harry Anthony. John is survived by his sister, Laurie Lasko (Michael) Tampa, FL; brother Michael H. Lehman (Belinda) Raleigh NC. Nephews, Michael J. Lehman (Samantha) Durand, MI; Beau Lasko (Jackie) Tampa, FL; Jason McKenzie (Ashley) Akron, OH. Nieces, Madison Ray of Cleveland, OH; Brooke Lasko (David) Oak Island, NC. Aunts, Shirley Chambers (Tom) Ada, OH; Judy Davis of Gahanna, OH. 12 great nieces and and many dear cousins. John will be dearly missed by his amazing crew/"brothers" and dear friends in Charlotte who have been with him for so many years as well as through this difficult journey. Our family is blessed to have them in our lives. John's passion for Harleys, racing, guns and fishing were shared with those closest to him. There are so many crazy fun memories from our trips with him to Daytona Bike Week. NHRA races with "cuz", fishing the gulf in FL and our Oak Island Beach weeks that we cherish forever. "Big John" will be remembered as a gentle soul who was fiercely loyal and protective of those he loved. Cremation has taken place at MacDonald Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Tampa, FL. A private celebration of John's life will be held in Charlotte this fall. Donations may be made in John's name at Glioblastomafoundation.org. |
