About | WARREN — James “Jimmy” Kovac, 60, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023, at St. Augustine Health Center in Cleveland. He was born Dec. 26, 1962, in Warren, to James and Mary Keener Kovac. Jimmy was a 1981 graduate of Howland High School. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving for six years, and received multiple service awards. He attended YSU and received his bachelor’s degree. He then went to work for The Department of Defense in Cleveland. He also had a cosmetology and barber’s license. He lived on the Stillwagon Farm in Howland, raising chickens and bees for honey. He enjoyed listening to music — R.E.M., MSB and Tom Petty were some of his favorite bands — hunting small game, cooking and making pizza. He is known for being a jokester of the family and always made everyone laugh. He is survived by his brother, David (Julie) Kovac of Cortland; sisters, Janice (Andre) Silvers of Florida and Betsy Vine of Cleveland; nieces, Jamie Neroni and Lauren Siemborski (his goddaughter); and nephews, David Vine and Stevie Siemborski.
