| About | HOWLAND — Laura J. McMillen, 53, a lifelong resident of Howland, died at her home Sunday afternoon, Oct. 23, 2016, after losing a courageous battle with cancer. Laura was born on March 17, 1963, in Warren, a daughter of Albert C. and Carol Price Smith. Laura was a 1982 graduate of Howland High School. She worked at Altronic’s as a circuit board operator for over 22 years. She was a proud member of Otterbein United Methodist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed making jewelry, reading, planting flowers and attending car shows. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband and best friend, Eric D. McMillen; her two sons, Jeffrey (Melinda) McMillen of Westport, Conn., and William McMillen-Rek of Girard; two stepchildren, Shannon McMillen of Akron and Daniel McMillen of Howland; her mother, Carol Smith, and sister Karen Smith, both of Carrollton; brother, Rob (Cindy) Smith of Indianhead, Md.; and two grandchildren, Darwin and Octavia. Laura was preceded in death by her father, Albert C. Smith. Services will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive, Warren, with the Rev. Joan Purnell celebrating her life.
