About | LONG BEACH, Calif. - Scott Brian Mick, 51, of Long Beach, Calif., passed away of natural causes at his home on Monday, July 7, 2014. Scott, the son of the late Cecil and Joyce Mick, was born July 23, 1962, in Warren. He was a 1980 graduate of Howland High School. Following graduation, Scott joined the United States Air Force, studied and trained as an aircraft mechanic, and was stationed in New Mexico and Anchorage, Alaska. He took great pride in serving our country and held it dear his entire life. After leaving the Air Force, Scott was employed as a press operator at Warren Printing. Scott enjoyed growing up in a large family and leaves behind four sisters, JoAnn (Jerry) Heinbaugh of Austintown, Judith (Ken) Kuszmaul of Inman, S.C., Janice (Lou) LeClair of Gastonia, N.C., and Pam (Mark) Beckner of Belmont, N.C.; four children, Jessica Mick, David Mick, Wayne Streeter and Demetria Streeter; six granddaughters; and several nieces, nephews and extended family. Scott often shared with friends, old and new, the love and respect he had for his sisters. After moving to California, he spoke of how much he missed large family dinners and celebrations. Even though health issues prohibited Scott from making frequent trips back home to Ohio, he enjoyed his last trip to Ohio, spent with his children and grandchildren. He had fond memories of family time, watching Wayne play football for the Howland Tigers and long-distance gaming with his son, David. Most recently, Scott attended Charter College and was working on his web-based business, Jester Graphics. Scott's favorite activities were long talks with his girlfriend, Susan Hildebrand, daily walks with his dog, Cheeto, and keeping in touch with friends. As Scott's family, we are comforted to know that he had Susan to share his life with and close friends that valued and loved him. Scott will best be remembered for his sense of humor and his love of family and friends. He will be missed by all who loved him. A service to honor Scott's life will be held in Ohio this fall. Donations in his memory would be welcome to Pets for Vets, American Cancer Society or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. |
