About | My twin brother, Peter S. Clark, lost a long and courageous battle with depression in 2000 while he was living in northern California, working as a chemical engineer for Union 76. Pete worked hard to learn all he could about his Bipolar Type 2 diagnosis, even attending a professional psychiatric seminar on the topic so he could discuss cutting-edge treatments with his doctor. Unfortunately, science proved no match for this debilitating condition and he took his life on Feb. 9, 2000. He left behind a lovely wife, Marilyn, our parents, seven siblings, and 15 adoring nieces and nephews. Through the years, Pete was very open about his struggle and served as a good role model for others, encouraging them to seek help if they felt their enjoyment of life was slipping away. Despite his challenges, he attained great professional success doing amazing things like developing a process to remove selenium from waste water during the manufacturing of gasoline - go cogitate on that one! Pete was a funny, playful, and incredibly bright man and I will always be grateful for having the privilege of claiming him as my twin. If you double-click on the photo at the left, you can view a larger image of Marilyn & Pete at their wedding in 1999. I'm delighted to report that Marilyn remarried last month (July 2011) and is happily starting a new life with her husband, Perry. Lovingly submitted by Sally Clark Albrecht |
