James Dale Fox Obituary

Graduation Year Class of 1973
Date of Passing Jan 23, 2010
About Everybody has special friends when they're growing up. I'll share with you some of my memory of Jimmy Fox who recently died. I remember when he first moved in with his Grama there in Tarlton. He'd been living with his mother in Columbus prior to that. I thought I was a smooth operator until he showed up. First time I'd ever seen anybody other than the Beatles wearing Beatle boots. Long wild lookin hair. He'd probably been smokin since he was ten and was the fastest, strongest guy around. You could tell by the way he walked down the side walk things were about to change. He was a year older and got his license first. His dad drove in from Massachusetts and gave him a car. When his dad stepped out of the car I instantly knew where Jimmy got his style. His dad was a big handsome dude and I'll never forget, he had on paisley pants. Way cool! Once Jimmy got the car he started dating Circleville girls and I'd sometimes get to double date along with a friend of Jimmy's girlfriend. Man, was that ever fun. I couldn't tell you one single thing about any movie we went to see at the Starlight. So when you're 15, and you have a friend with wheels who's fixin you up with older girls, pickin up beer at Woodys, and is steppin in when you're about to get your butt kicked, you got a real friend. Jimmy settled down after high school, married a real nice girl and started a family. I didn't get to see him after that, but I understand prior to his accident he'd become a deputy sheriff. I would have liked to have seen him in a sheriff's uniform. He was the natural alpha male leader of the pack and everybody, including myself wanted to be on his side. Jimmy was damn cool.
