Holly Renee (jones) Carruthers Obituary

Graduation Year Class of 1991
Date of Passing Dec 18, 2007
About Birth: May 5, 1973
Death: Dec. 18, 2007

Holly Renee' Carruthers, 34, of Castor Road, Lexington, died Tuesday December 18, 2007 in rural Ashland County.

She was born May 5, 1973 in Mansfield to Eileen Yvonne Domka and Donald Bruce Jones, and remained a lifelong area resident.

Holly was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1991, and earned her Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Mount Vernon Nazarene University, as an honors student.

She had worked with the Mansfield-Richland County Convention and Visitors Bureau as an event and program planner. Holly attended Crossroads Community Church in Mansfield, where she had been in several of the church's ministry programs.

Described as an intelligent girl, Holly enjoyed her trips to the "Y," yoga classes, long hikes, swimming, and any excuse to go biking. Her creative side was obvious through her beading and jewelry projects.

She excelled in the kitchen. Holly made outstanding spaghetti and lasagna, stir-fry and chow mein, but her chicken dishes were her specialty.

Her sweet and silly laughter complimented her lovely sense of humor, and loving warmth for her family. Beyond all that has been written and said about Holly, she was a loving and caring mother.

She is survived by her husband Thomas J. Carruthers, whom she married January 5, 2005; her son Andrew Metzger, her daughter Lindsay Metzger; her mother Eileen Van Patten of Mansfield; her father Donald Jones of Mansfield; her brother and sister-in-law Donald & Samantha Jones of Swansea, Ill.; her sister PFC Amber Van Patten of Fort Hood, Texas; her maternal grandmother Ruth Domka of Mansfield; her paternal grandmother Christine Jones of Cincinnati; aunts, uncles, cousins; nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Steven Domka, and her paternal grandfather A. J. Jones.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 21, 2008 from 4-8 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions to the Mansfield Art Center or Gorman Nature Center may be made at the funeral home.
