About Maurice Charles Elder II "Biddie", 62, lifelong resident of Mansfield, died May 31, 2011, at his Reed St. home. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. Biddie was born June 25, 1948 to the late Maurice C. Elder, Sr. and Dorothy Lee Shoulders. He was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High. Known for his strong will and straightforwardness, Biddie was a man of many gifts including chess, painting and art. With a love of music, comedy and landscaping you could most often see him tending to his yard. He enjoyed life to the fullest and lived without boundaries. One of his famous one-liners was "I loved the life I lived and lived the life I loved" which used to summarize his life.

He is survived by his children, son, Shawn Maurice Nevius of Huber Heights, OH, daughter, Maureen C. Elder-Cervi of Columbus, OH; wife of 14 years, Mary Elder and her children, Sherry Tiger Bradley, Johnnie Gibbs of California, stepdaughter, Sha'Ronda Foster of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Sherell, Mychelle, Deja Nevius, Miles, Mason, Cervi, Tiger, Cheyla Bradley, Johnnie Gibbs, Jr.; brothers and sisters along with their spouses, Marlon Mabel Wallace of Virginia Beach, VA, Kim Elder-Jones, Julie Elder Frank Thomas and Jeffrey Marva Elder; sisters-in-law, Sherry Elder and Patty Allen; several nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles; and special cousin, Veronika Harris. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Kip Maurice Elder and Harold Allen; uncles, George Shoulders and Charles Shoulders; and grandparents, Everett and Gatha Bell Shoulders.
Events Services will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Community Temple Church of God in Christ, 338 Harker St., Mansfield. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Mr. Elder.
