| About | September 13, 1956 - October 12, 2012 Alliance, OH Shawn Marie DeLion, 56, of Marlboro, passed away at Mercy Medical Center from a very sudden illness on Friday, October 12, 2012. Born in Alliance on September 13, 1956 to Carl and Ruth E. (Peterson) DeLion, Jr., she lived in Alliance all of her life. She was a graduate of Marlington High School and Stark State College. Shawn raised Shetland Sheepdogs and always thought of them as her family. She was a member of the Three Rivers Shetland Sheepdog Club of Greater Pittsburgh and has also shown a number of her dogs in various AKC dog shows around the Alliance area. Miss DeLion was a very talented artist and was commissioned to make drawings of animals by their owners. Among her many talents, was also a love for woodworking. She loved making and designing furniture and other wood products that she gave as gifts. Survivors include her brother, Fr. Lawrence DeLion of Smithtown, NY; her aunt, Mary Lou Peterson of Alliance, whom she was very close; her aunt, Kathy Hoover of Alliance; her aunt, Marie Herbert of Carrollton; and several cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents; and a brother, Keith Alan DeLion. Her memorial service will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park on Thursday, October 18, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. with her Brother, Rev. Fr. Lawrence DeLion, officiating. There are no calling hours. Interment will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Presbyterian Church, 425 E. Market St., Alliance, OH 44601.
