About | Allyn Wheeler, 50, of Arlington, Texas, former resident of Mt. Gilead, died on September 28, 2005, in St. Paul Hospital in Dallas after a long bout with cancer. He was born on April 5, 1955 in Mt. Gilead and he graduated from Mt. Gilead High School in 1973. His school mates will have known him by the nickname, “Worm.” Some friends and family will have known him by his adult nickname, “Wheels.” He was not a veteran but supported our troops and was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Cleveland Indians, Browns, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He knew a lot of trivia facts about all sports. He never married and had no children. After the death of his father, Albert, in 1990, Allyn moved to Texas in 1995 where his mother and sister live. He was a former employee of Geauga Plastics and was a warehouse manager for General Electric for the 12 years he lived in Texas. He is survived by his mother, Audine Wheeler; his sister, Allyson Wheeler Richards, both of Arlington, Texas; a nephew, Phillip Thompson; and a great-nephew, Nathan Thompson, both of Phoenix, Arizona. His body was donated to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School to help in the research of cancer patients everywhere. Memorial services were held on October 20, 2005 at the Edison United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions were made to the American Cancer Society in Allyn’s name. |
