About | Scott L. Shipman, age 51, of North Cherry St., Mount Gilead died early Friday morning, October 17, 2008 at his residence after a short battle with cancer. He was born September 30, 1957 in Mount Gilead to Oris Shipman and Twila (McClaren) Shipman Gist. His mother survives in Edison. Scott was a 1976 graduate of Mount Gilead High School. He was employed as a tool room machinist at Covert Manufacturing of Galion and he was a member of the Canaan United Methodist Church. On July 9, 1992 in Bucyrus he married the former Marlene Feustel and she survives in Mount Gilead. Survivors also include a son, Philip Shipman, a student at The University of Toledo; a daughter, Sarah Shipman, at home, a brother and sister-in-law, Jon and Becky Shipman and a sister and brother-in-law, Jill and Todd Retterer all of Edison; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Evelyn Feustel of Galion; 5 nieces and 1 nephew. Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington Sunday, October 19, 2008 from 2:00 to 5:00PM. Funeral services will be held at the Canaan United Methodist Church on Monday, October 20, 2008 at 11:00AM. Reverend Howard Huston will officiate and burial will follow in Bryn Zion Cemetery.
