About | Charles Clifton Talbott, Jr., of Gahanna, Ohio, aged 53, died Tuesday, July 24, 1962 at his home. He was born in 1909, at Piketon, Ohio. He was the son of Charles C. and Mary Cooper Talbott. His wife, Phoebe, was surviving at the time of his death. He had one stepson, Harold H. Herrick of San Fernando, California. Charles had two deceased brothers, Russell and Harry and one surviving sister, Mrs. Hannah Colburn or Portsmouth. Charles was one of Piketon High School’s star athletes playing baseball and basketball until his graduation in 1927. For many years he was also a well known southern Ohio sports official and at the time of his death, had been a salesman for the J. Fred Schmitt Packing Company in Columbus since 1938. A World War II veteran, he was also associated with the old Miles Meat Packing Plant near Piketon for years as an employee and then operator of the plant. He was a member of Humbolt Lodge F & AM and the Mifflin Presbyterian Church. Services were held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 27 at the Margarum and Son Funeral Home in Gahanna with graveside services at 3:30 P.M. at Mound Cemetery in Piketon. |
