Charles K. Blanton, 61, of South Vienna, Ohio, died at 10:44 p.m. Thursday in Community Hospital following a two-year battle with emphysema. He was born June 11, 1935, in Pike County to Elva Blanton and Minnie Carson. He is survived by wife, Karen J. (McClung); three children and spouses, Robert J. and Janice K. Blanton of South Vienna, Sherry and Mark Allen of Hammond, Ind., and John D. and Janet Blanton of Delaware, Ohio; two grandchildren, Jesse and Sarah; three sisters and spouses Alice and Tino Balestra; and Helen K. and Larry Jenkins all of Piketon, and Betty Spriggs of Springfield and a number nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Robert E. Blanton. Mr. Blanton had worked as a stock clerk for Navistar for 32 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 402 and had served in the United States Army. Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Reverend Alderson Caudill officiating. Burial services will be Monday in Mound Cemetery, Piketon. Memorial donations can be made to the American Lung Association. |
