About | Daniel Jeffrey Distel, 30, of Franklin, PA, died Saturday May 24, 2003, in Nashville, Ill. He was born on March 5, 1973, and is the son of Carl W. (Linda) Distel, of West Portsmouth, and Eunice (McNelly) Distel, of Piketon. Also surviving are grandparents, Jewell Distel, of West Portsmouth, and Stanley and Zelma McNelly, of Piketon; four brothers, Carl Dwayne Distel, of South Webster, Darin (Amy) Distel Wayne (Brandi) Stewart, John (Angie) Stewart, all of West Portsmouth; two sisters, Jennifer (Eric) Mills, of Bainbridge and Angie (Stevens) Smith, of Lucasville; nieces and nephews, Michelle Smith Hawk, Sarah and Nathan Distel, Christopher and Cole Distel, Gage and Logan Mills, Breanna Stephens, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Carl Distel. He was an Electrical Engineer employed with the Joy Mining Machinery Co. in Franklin, Pa, a 1991 Graduate of Piketon High School, earned his Electrical Engineering Degree at Ohio University, and attended the Elm Grove Church of Christ and the Dry Run Mission Church in West Portsmouth. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, at Botkin Funeral Home in Waverly, with Rev. David Distel officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery.
