David "Steve" Woodruff, 61 of Morningside Dr. Waverly, died Sunday February 21, 2010 at the Mount Carmel Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio in the loving arms of his wife, and surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on August 5, 1948 in Pike County, Ohio to the late Carey Herbert and Martha Margaret Jordan Woodruff. He was united in marriage on July 6, 1970 to Carol Drake Woodruff who survives. Also surviving are a son, Bradley Woodruff (Debbie Wigton) and daughter Kayla Woodruff of Columbus, Ohio, one daughter, Michelle (Kelly) Ryan and children Owen and Garen of Hillsboro, Ohio, one brother, Keith (Linda) Woodruff of Lakeland, FL, one sister, Darla " Sis"(Doug) Dewey of Waverly, and one sister in law, Sally Woodruff of Waverly, Ohio.. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Eugene Woodruff, and 2 sisters: Wanda Johnson, and Betty Rice. He was an Engineer with the Waverly City School System with 28 years of service, owner of Steve Woodruff Body Shop in Waverly for 20 years, a member of the American Legion-Merritt Post #142 in Waverly, AMVETS, VFW, served as Trustee for the Waverly Moose Lodge #2263, the Moose Riders, the Eagles Lodge, Arie#2227, of Waverly, and served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, having received the Purple Heart, the Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze service stars, and the National Defense Service Medal. Steve was an avid race fan and enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends on his motorcycle. His family and many friends were the joy of his life, especially his three grandchildren. Funeral services will be 7:30 P.M. Wednesday at Botkin Funeral Home in Waverly with Rev. Richard Burns officiating, with Military Services to follow by Merritt Post #142 of Waverly. The Waverly Moose Lodge #2263 will have a service at 7:30 P.M. Wednesday. Friends may call on Wednesday from 3:30-7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. |
