About | Delbert Eugene Davis, 72, of Beaver Pike, Waverly, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at his residence. He was born on July 14, 1932, in Waverly, Ohio, to the late Ernest and Nellie Mercer Davis. He was united in marriage on March 9, 1995, to Jessie L. Reno, who survives. Also surviving are two sons; three grandchildren; three brothers; five sisters. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Terry Dawn Davis; a grandson, Nathan Davis; and one sister, Bonnie Knight. Mr. Davis was a retired teacher, basketball coach and school principal with 31 years in education. He was a graduate of Rio Grande College and earned his master's in school administration from Moorehead University. He was and avid fisherman, hunter, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Friends may call Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Botkin Funeral Home in Waverly. A private funeral service will be at the convenience of the family with Rev. Grover Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion-Merritt Post #142 of Waverly.
