About | Dewey P. Henson, aged 57, of Timber Drive in Dayton, Ohio died at 11:30 P.M. Thursday, August 23, 1962, at the Good Samaritan Hospital from injuries sustained at 10:00 P.M. when struck by a car while crossing the street in Dayton. He was born February 7, 1905, in Piketon, Ohio. He was the son of Parker I. and Laura Ella Vance Henson. On November 15, 1958, he married the former Nonie Jones who was surviving at the time of his death. Dewey had three deceased brothers and four living ones: James W. of Logan, Charles F. of Cadiz, Jacob B. of White Plains, New York, and Homer of Poway, California. He also had two sisters, Mrs. Vivian Riley of Ironton and Mrs. Margaret Warren of Portsmouth. Dewey was a graduate of Piketon High School and former athlete there. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a construction worker, a member of the American Legion Post at Dayton, and a member of the Methodist Church. Services were held at 1:30 P.M. Sunday, August 26 at the Howe Company Funeral Home with the Reverends DeLoss Smith and Waid Radford officiating. Burial was in the Mound Cemetery at Piketon. |
