About | Elliott P. “Pappy” Slagle, 76, of Piketon, Ohio died 11:45 a.m. Monday, 24 November 2014 at Pike Community Hospital, Waverly, Ohio. He was born 15 October 1938 in Portsmouth, Ohio the son of the late Samuel Clarence Slagle and Irene E. (Elliott) Slagle. On 28 November 1964 Pappy was united in marriage to Suellen (Rose) Slagle who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, all of Anchorage, Alaska and a grandson. He was a member of St Mary Queen of the Missions Catholic Church, Waverly, a retired FAA, Air Traffic Controller, Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp where he served as a Captain in Viet Nam from March 1967 to April 1968, Member of the Waverly Orient Masonic Lodge, #321 F & A M, graduate of Morehead College, Morehead, Kentucky. Pat and Suellen have been together for 50 years. They traveled together as a family, some places they visited are Hawaii, Niagara Falls, Alaska and various states. He enjoyed camping, fishing, gold panning and stamping. Pappy was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed playing golf with his grandson Samuel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday 1 December 2014 at St Mary Queen of the Missions Catholic Church in Waverly, with Father William Hahn officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Piketon. A Rosary service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, prior to the Mass at St Mary Catholic Church. Calling hours will not be observed. Arrangements are under the direction of the Howe Wheeler Boyer Funeral Home, Piketon, Ohio. Memorial contribution may be made to St. Mary Building Fund, 407 South Market Street, Waverly, Ohio 45690, Elizabeth Hope Pregnancy Resource, 215 N. High Street, Waverly, Ohio or Bridgehaven/Outreach, 109 West Second. Street, Waverly, Ohio.
