| About | Gary Uriah Smith, 78, of St Mary's Lane, Waverly, Ohio died 12:34 a.m. Monday, 4 April 20165 in Pike Community Hospital, He was born 24 November 1937 in Elm Grove, Ohio the son of the late Ora Everett Smith and Lina Lola (Shanks) Smith. On 28 April 1960 Gary was united in marriage to Jo Alice (Patrick) Smith, who survives. Also surviving are a son Christopher and wife Jodi of Williamsburg, Ohio, two daughters, Jill York and husband Peter of Naperville, Illinois and Jennifer Walters and husband Danny of Westchester, Ohio, six grandchildren, McKenzie Walters, Silas Walters, Dalton Smith, Kacey Smith, Bailey York and Wesley York, brother Verlin Smith of Piketon, Ohio and a sister Neisel Palmer of Groveport, Ohio. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Richard and Troy Smith. He was a retired salesman for Vallery Ford and Vallery Chevrolet and a veteran of the U.S. Army Ohio National Guard, Chillicothe, Company. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, 8 April 2016 at the New Covenant CCCU, Waverly with Pastor Doug Campbell, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery, Waverly, with military graveside services by American Legion Merritt Post #142, Waverly Family will receive friends at the BOYER FUNERAL HOME from 4 – 8 p.m. on Thursday and one hour prior to the service at the church of Friday.
