About | Gilbert "Jr." Barlow, born August 6, 1931 joined his Lord and Savior on April 23, 2007 at approximately 1:20 P.M. He was preceded in death by his father Gilbert, mother Josephine, infant brother that died at birth Joey, brother Jerry, and a son, John Barlow. He attended Hamman Church and was baptized into the Lord on September 10, 2006. He is survived by his wife and loving companion of 54 years, Helen (Jean) Barlow, whom me married April 6, 1953. Sharing in the loss of their father are one daughter, Jeanie (Larry) Williams and son, George (Margie) Barlow. Papaw Barlow will be deeply missed by his 8 grandchildren: Mandy (Ryan) Clemmons, PJ (JoAnna) McGaughey, Mike (Joanna) McGaughey, John (Candy) Barlow, Joe (Tonya) Barlow, Jerry Barlow, George Barlow, Jr., and Wil Barlow, 2 step grandchildren, Doug Williams, and Holly (Mike) Southworth, Papaw had 10 great grandchildren: Leigha Clemmons, twins Landen and Lydia Clemmons, Annie, Paul, and Clarke McGaughey, Taylor and Sarah Barlow, Steven and Jesse Barlow and two others that are due to arrive in December to Mike and Holly Southworth and Mike and Joanna McGaughey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Jr. also had a faithfull companion, Mick, his poodle that will miss him greatly. Jr. graduated from Piketon High School in 1949 and served in the military with the United States Air Force. He retired from the I.B.E.W. Local 82 of Dayton, Ohio where he served for 42 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 142 of Waverly, a lifetime member of the AMA (American Motorcycly Association) of Westerville, OH. Jr. enjoyed deer hunting in Pennyslvania with all of his buddies and in his later years he spent a lot of time with his trains and working in his garden and spending time with his grandkids. He will be deeply missed and remembered by all of those who loved him. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Botkin Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Brett McGraw officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7:00 P.M. Wednesday and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
