About | Gladys Marcella (Pfeifer) Collinsworth, Age 96 walked through the gates of heaven and was greeted there by her beloved husband, Armon Collinsworth on Thursday, April 13, 2017. Gladys was born in Piketon, Ohio on March 9, 1921 daughter of the late William and Mary (Crabtree) Pfeifer. On January 20, 1940, she married the love of her life Armon Collinsworth and they were married 66 years. Armon passed away on March 25, 2006. Gladys was preceded in death by her brothers, George and Clarence Pfeifer and her sisters, Minnie Bellar and Julia Hayes. Gladys was raised on the VanMeter Farm in Piketon, Ohio and graduated from Piketon High School in 1939. Gladys and her daughter Mary returned to the farm as her husband Armon proudly served during WWII and Gladys waited anxiously for his return. She was loved by many people and affectionately known as "Mamaw". Gladys was a master in the kitchen and famous for her homemade noodles. Her love of the kitchen lead her to become cook for the Jasper Schools where she retired. Gladys decorated wedding and birthday cakes for many of the residents of Pike County, Ohio. Gladys was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mary Lucille (Paul) Abshear, Gerald Armon (Mary Beth) Collinsworth. Her brother, Robert (Marsha) Pfeifer and a sister, JoAnn Winegardner. Her grandchildren, Paul David (Tammy) Abshear, Lisa Behr, Anita Selfridge, Jeremy Collinsworth, Jason Collinsworth and Joshua (Megan) Collinsworth. Great Grandchildren, Jonathon, Christopher, Jordan, Brennan, Haylie, Amanda, Easton, Sarah, Spencer, Xalen and Gianna Rose. Her Great Great Grandchildren, Alexandria, Noah and Sabastian. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services to be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday April 16, 2017 at the Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home in Piketon, Ohio with Pastor Val Francis, officiating. Friends may call 4 – 6 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Burial Will Follow in Mound Cemetery, Piketon, Ohio. www.boyerfuneral.com |
