| About | - Hazel Jane Burkitt, age 79, of the Elm Grove Community, died 4:00 P.M. Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Edgewood Manor of Lucasville. She was born October 20, 1933 in West Virginia, a daughter of the late Earl and Opal McCallister Harrison. On November 28, 1958 she was united in marriage to D. Eugene Burkitt who preceded her in death May 24, 1991. She is survived by three sons, Michael Wade Burkitt and wife Lori Jayne, David Wayne Burkitt and wife Ola Mae, and Galen Lee Burkitt and wife Wendy Sue, all of Piketon, Ohio; eight grandchildren, James Michael Burkitt, Jonathon Wade Burkitt, Victoria Jayne Burkitt, Jason Wayne Burkitt, Ryan David Burkitt, Jennifer Nicole Childers, Brandon Eugene Burkitt, and Madison Hope Burkitt; five great grandchildren, Braylee Nicole Burkitt, Kaydance Lillian Burkitt, Paisley June Burkitt, Saydi Lynnae Childers, and Nolan Michael Childers; two brothers, Okey Harrison and wife Nancy of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Virgil Harrison and wife Linda of San Antonio, Texas; and two sisters, Arminta Lightle and husband John of Johnstown, Ohio, and Loretta Pinkerton and husband Darrell of Waverly, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters, Bonnie Hamilton, and Myrtle Ann Harrison. Hazel was a member of the Elm Grove Church of Christ, was a former 4-H advisor, and was an EMT with the Elm Grove Squad with twenty-eight years of service. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, at the Botkin Funeral Home in Waverly with Darrell Pinkerton, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday and from noon to 2:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. |
