About | Hazel W. Griffith, 93, of 1510 Vine St., Denham Springs, La. (formerly of Wilmington), died at 3 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 18, 2007) at Golden Age Nursing Home, Denham Springs, La. Her husband, Ottie E. Griffith, preceded her in death April 10, 1996. They were married December 7, 1935. Mrs. Griffith was born July 2, 1914 in Piketon, daughter of the late Addison and Mary Mason Shoemaker. Mrs. Griffith was a long time employee of the General Denver Hotel. She was a member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1224 Auxiliary. Mrs. Griffith is survived by two sons, Addison (Judy) Griffith of Prescott, Ark. and Larry (Carol) Griffith of Denham Springs, La.; a sister, Mary Ruth Pinney of Cape Coral, Fla.; six grandchildren, Richard Griffith of Denham Springs, La., Jason Griffith of Cape Coral, Fla., Terri Potts of Bainbridge, Cathy Crowell-Marx of Pinehurst, N.C., Cynthia Mohan of Fort Lewis, Wash. and Jeffrey Griffith of Panama City, Fla.; and nine great-grandchildren, Joshua Griffith, Lauren Griffith, Hannah Crowell, Jacob Crowell, Micah Crowell, Ashley Potts, Christopher Mohan, Sarah Mohan and Mary Mohan. In addition to her husband and parents, four brothers and two sisters are preceded in death. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St., Wilmington, with Keith Dimbath officiating. Burial will be in Cottie’s Corner Church Cemetery, Pike County. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
