About | Pike County News-Watchman (Waverly, OH) - October 13, 2010 Jack B. Foster, 89, of Enon passed away September 22, 2010 in Fairborn, Ohio. He was born August 30, 1921 in Batavia, Ohio to the late Edwin and Florence Foster. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Eileen Miller Foster, son Van (Connie) Foster, daughter Alice (Gaylon) Ward and grandchildren Van-II Foster, Tracie Waldron and Tiffany Hoppes. Jack graduated from Piketon High School in 1939. He retired from the Conrail Railroad Corporation (formerly the New York-Central Railroad) in 1981 after 40 years of dedicated service as a traveling freight agent. He dedicated much railroad memorabilia to the Clark County Heritage Center. He also leaves behind many dear railroad friends through the NARVE organization. He proudly served in the US Army in World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was stationed over a year in the Daiechi Building in Tokyo, taking great pride in knowing that he also shared the building with General Douglas Macarthur who used it as his headquarters. After his retirement, he enjoyed many passions such as reading and traveling domestically. He took great pride in sharing his love of travel with his family who accompanied him across all of the 48 continental states and many of the country's National Parks. A graveside service was conducted 11:00 AM Saturday September 25, 2010 in Evergreen Union Cemetery, Waverly, Ohio by Pastor Larry Williams. Visitation was held 10:00-10:45 in the Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly. Military Honors were conducted by the US Army. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in Jack's name be made to the Masonic Helping Hands 7594 Dayton Springfield Road Fairborn, Ohio 45324. |
