About | James Leroy Shoemaker (aged 80) born September 30th 1929 in Pike County Ohio has passed on at Riverside Hospital, Columbus Ohio on December 10, 2009. Jim attended Piketon High School and the Ohio University. He attended the Southwest Freewill Baptist Church and was retired from Janitrol/FL Aerospace after 41 years where he was a longtime member of the International Association of Machinists union. Jim was a member of Ralph R. Rickly Lodge #670, Free and Accepted Masons since 1963, where he was a Past Master, and was a Past Patron of Beacon Chapter #593, Order of the Eastern Star. Jim was also a member of the Mt. Vernon Commandery, York Temple Chapter #155; Columbus Council #8 Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus; and the Aladdin Shrine and Franklin County Memorial Lodge. Jim served for 25 years as the President of the Rickly Temple Corporation. He was also an enthusiastic sports fan who loved auto racing and served as an usher at both the Columbus Clippers Cooper Stadium and at the Ohio State University Stadium for more than 25 years. Jim is survived by Dorothy (Entler) Shoemaker, his wife of 58 years; daughter Debra (Richard) Schwinn of Honey Creek Wisconsin; grandchildren Anna Rose Schwinn of Indianapolis Indiana and Matthew Tucker Schwinn of Chicago Illinois; and nephew Robert (Nellie) Dunn of Morriston Florida. He also leaves three sisters-in-law: Gladys Harsh of Zephyrhills Florida, Stella Day of Lakeview Ohio, Beulah Pinkerton of Piketon Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. Jim is preceded in death by parents Roy and Lina (Silcott) Shoemaker, sister Ruth Dunn and brother John Shoemaker. Family will receive friends from 4 pm to 8pm Saturday with Masonic Service at 7pm at the Boyer Funeral Home in Waverly Ohio. Funeral services at Boyer will be at 2 pm on Sunday with Rev.
