About | John Richard Blakeman, 92, of Eastern Avenue, Chillicothe, Ohio died 5:50 a.m. Wednesday, 20 December 2017 in the Chillicothe Veteran Administration Hospital. John was born 5 October 1925 in Piketon, Ohio the son of the late James Moses Blakeman and Rose Agnes (Sweeney) Blakeman. On 3 May 1943 John was united in marriage to Mary Angelyn (Miller) Blakeman, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Richard Walter Blakeman and wife Paulette, daughter, Sherry Ann Walsh both of Chillicothe. Four grandchildren, Tim Blakeman and wife Lora, Elizabeth Withrow, Stephen Walsh and Rebekah Olson and husband Richard, Ten great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. John formally attended the Chillicothe Trinity United Methodist Church, was a retired Bond Room Operator for Mead Corporation, Chillicothe with 41 years service, a Veteran of WW II, having served in the U.S. Army and a graduate of Piketon High School class of 1944. His parents, son-in-law, Richard S. Walsh, five brothers, Carl, Sam, Elmer, William and Harold Blakeman, three sisters, Betty Day, Nellie Ferrell and Lucille Gibson, preceded John in death. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, 22 December 2017 at the BOYER FUNERAL HOME in Waverly. With Pastor Jim Wade officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery, Waverly with military graveside services by American Legion Merritt Post #142, Waverly. Family will receive friends at the Boyer Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour on Friday. Special thanks to John’s caregivers at the Chillicothe V.A.
