About Kenneth F. Vulgamore, age 82, of S. Market Street in Waverly, died on Sunday, September 26, 2010, at Traditions of Bristol Village in Waverly. He was born on February 27, 1928 in Piketon, OH, a son of the late John W. and Myrtle Farmer Vulgamore. On February 26, 1948, he was united in marriage to Freda Arrowood Vulgamore, who survives. Also surviving is his special nephew, Rev. Melvin Vulgamore; several nieces and nephews; and his brother- and sister-in-law, William and Norma Shepherd. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Lawrence, Leo, Myron, Floyd, and Richard Vulgamore; and 3 sisters, Louise Burkitt, Helen Gorski, and Maxine Fisher.
Kenny served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II in the Philippines, and worked at the Goodyear A-plant from 1953 until his retirement from Martin Marietta in 1994. He was the owner/operator of Arrowood Jewelry for many years, and was a founding member of the Pike Water, Inc. and a lifelong member of its board, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of the Atomic Employees& Credit Union.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 30, 2010, at the Botkin Funeral Home in Waverly, with Rev. Melvin Vulgamore officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery, with military services conducted by American Legion-Merritt Post #142 of Waverly. Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday and from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pike Community Hospital Foundation, 100 Dawn Lane, Waverly, OH 45690, or to Bristol InCare Hospice, 681 E. Third St. Waverly, OH 45690.
