Lester Brewster - Trinidad Times Independent - January 16, 2007 - Lester Brewster, 86, died January 10, 2007, in Trinidad. He was born July 22, 1920, in Rarden, Ohio, to Lowell H. and Laura Brewster) Strutt. Lester graduated from Piketon High School [1938] and joined the Navy in 1939. He attended Radio School in San Diego, Calif., and served as a radio operator in the South Pacific on the USS Lexington; USS Independence, and the USS Yorktown during World War II. He married Ruby F. Brewster in 1945 in Corpus Cristi, Texas. After the war, he graduated from Ohio Northern University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He first went to work as a surveyor then worked as an electrical engineer for the United States government and he retired in 1972. He was a member of the Lions Club, American Legion, VFW, and LULAC the Legion of United Latin American Citizens and served as a volunteer at local hospitals where he lived. He also traveled extensively throughout Mexico. He married Mary Egenberger in the 1970s. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary and his parents. He is survived by his sons: Mike (Judy) Brewster, Guthrie, Okla.; Alan (Erma) Brewster, Aguilar; Jonathan (MaLynn) Brewster, Weston; daughters Lana (Leslie) Roberts, Weston; Teresa (Tony) Barnhart, Albuquerque; one brother and two sisters, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Mike Brewster, Al Brewster, Jon Brewster, Leslie Roberts, Tony Barnhart, and Rick Vigil. Honorary Pallbearer will be Shawn Martinez. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 17, from 2-6 p.m. at the Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home. Family and close friends will gather Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home to memorialize their father and friend. Burial will be on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery |
